Awana Clubbers & Parents,

Wow, we made it.  Hard to believe that 8 weeks ago we were on Spring Break, perhaps oblivious to how the world was changing around us.  Well, here we are 2 months later, completing our 7th and final Awana from Home for the 2019/2020 year.  I must say, I'm quite impressed.  We have had at least 30 views of our Awana videos each week, plus over 50 records have been sent in since last week.  Please continue to send in records using the google form below (this week has been added to the form).  You are also invited to send any questions on your clubbers handbook or their progress to awana@faithpb.com

Additionally, please record on your calendar that the Awana Year End Awards night has been moved to Sunday Night, June 14 (per the current Faith Baptist's church-wide reopening schedule).  I will have more information for you about the June 14th plans next week.

The google form can be found below or via this link:

Cubbies

Hello Cubbies and Cubbies parents! I cannot believe that the year is already over. The last part of this AWANA year was definitely out of the norm, but I am glad that we were still able to study our Cubbies books and learn about Jesus together. This weeks video also includes our Theme verses and motto, and some special visits from all of our leaders! The included craft/coloring page can be converted into a memory matching game, which most kids really enjoy and it takes minimal effort to set up! Our lesson is a recap on the last few weeks focusing on Jesus being the savior. As always I will keep you all in prayer and look forward to when we can meet again! - Rebekah Wells, Cubbies Director

Sparks

Hello Sparks and welcome back Sparks parents for our final lesson. This week we will be learning about how to share the Gospel and our faith through a method called "The Wordless Book." I am encouraging clubbers to make the book during the lesson and parents feel free to pause the video as needed to do this activity. Parents, your clubber will probably need assistance during this lesson, so if you wouldn't mind helping I know he/she will benefit from your participation. Feel free to make a few booklets and pass them out to family and friends as a way to share the good news! Clubbers, after the video there is one final coloring sheet for you to do. Sparks, it's hard to believe that this is our last week! I am praying for you and I miss you all. I look forward to when we can meet again perhaps even on awards night! Keep working through your sections and please don't forget to submit what work and sections you've completed in the form above per Commander Ken's request. (Parents Note: For this lesson please have ready construction paper or card stock in 5 colors- yellow, black, red, white, and green. Also scissors and a stapler or paperclips will be needed. In case you were unable to gather materials for this lesson, I have included a link to a printable page with instructions that you can print in color.) Thank you and enjoy the lesson! -- Ms. Linda Jernigan, Sparks Director

Hello one last time this Awana year T&T clubbers, leaders and listeners! Our final lesson this week is Section 4.7 titled "Discovery of Grace. We discover God’s grace when godly attitudes in our lives are on display for others to see." Sorry, but this week's lesson again features yours truly, Mr. Ken.

As always, a link to a copy of our weekly slide presentation (which includes all our Bible verses) has been provided. For our in-home leaders, you will find copy of Section 4.7 of the Small Group Guide which provides assistance as you help your clubber with their handbook.

Technically tonight would have been "Hawaiian Night". Last week I encouraged you to dress up in your best Hawaiian clothing and to send in a picture of any leader or clubber that dressed up, or was studying their Awana book, or just having fun. It isn’t too late if you still want to participate. Who knows, maybe your photo will be used during our awards ceremony which is being planned for sometime in June. Simply post on the "Faith Baptist Church of Palm Bay" Facebook page or send via email to awana@faithpb.com.

Thanks for allowing your T&T leaders to spend Wednesday nights with you this year! --Kendall Stoddart, T&T Director

Cubbies

Hello Cubbies and Cubbies Parents! Wow, we are so close to the end of the year already! This is the second to last lesson. I hope that your clubbers have been enjoying the puppet skits and learning from the bible lessons each week, even though we aren't in an actual classroom. This week's lesson is about how we can trust Jesus to be with us when we are afraid, and also touches on how Jesus Christ is God. Our story talks about how the disciples were floating in a boat and were afraid of it sinking on the rough water, even though Jesus was asleep in the back of the boat! One fun idea for an additional activity is to practice floating 'boats' -- tin foil, paper, leaves, cups, etc. in a bucket or tub of water and have fun seeing what happens when the water is rough, or when you blow on the surface. The coloring sheet is included here as well as the additional boat pattern if you want to make it a more interactive project, the instructions are on the bottom of the coloring page. I am praying for you all this week and look forward to when we meet again! -- Rebekah Wells, Cubbies Director

Sparks

Hello Sparks and Welcome Sparks parents. It's great to be back with you this week. This week we will be learning about the Armor of God as outlined in Ephesians 6:11, 13-17. We will learn that our adversary is the devil, and will try anything to defeat God's children, but that we can stand firm in the faith as good soldiers of the Lord! We will look at each part of armor that we can "put on" and how we can use the Word of God to fight against him. After the video, there is a coloring/activity sheet for you to do. Sparks, it's hard to believe that this is almost our last week! I am praying for you and look forward to when we can meet again. Keep working through your sections and I'll have our last lesson for you next week. (Parents Note: For next week's lesson we will be making a Wordless Book aka the Wordless Bible. In order to do this, I am asking parents to have ready construction paper or card stock in 5 colors- yellow, black, red, white, and green. We will be making this with one page of each color. If you could have these materials ready for next week's lesson, it would greatly benefit your clubber for the final lesson. Thank you.) -- Ms. Linda Jernigan, Sparks Director

Hello Cubbies and Cubbies Parents! Today's lesson is Bear Hug 24! It is hard to believe that we are so close to finishing our Appleseed Cubbies book for the year. We are learning about Peter, Andrew, James and John catching fish, and Jesus calling the 12 disciples to be fishers of men. The takeaway is that we can also be 'fishers of men' by telling others the good news about the gospel. I am praying for you all this week, and look forward to when we can see each other again in person! ~ Rebekah Wells, Cubbies Director

Remember to go back and read the Galatians verses before proceeding to the video. Feel free to review and discuss each of the Fruits we've already learned about or re-watch any of the previous video lessons. After the video, there is a coloring sheet for clubbers to do. Cubbies

Hello Cubbies and Cubbies Parents! We are starting our final theme for the Cubbies year: God sent the Savior! This week we are learning about John the Baptist and Jesus' baptism. Most Cubbies will remember Jesus as a baby from our Christmas or Easter lesson, and it may be exciting to them if they can connect grown up Jesus as the same person as baby Jesus. Included here are links to this week's printable coloring page -- a trifold showing the baptism of Jesus (there are optional ideas listed on the coloring page for more in depth crafts). Also attached is an optional craft pattern to make a dove out of a paper plate for more hands on crafting. I will be praying for you all and the Cubbies this week! -- Rebekah Wells, Cubbies Director

Yes, leaders can participate as well. I haven't seen any online yet but I'm still looking. Cubbies

Hello Cubbies and Cubbies Parents! This week is our Easter lesson, which can be found in the back of your Cubbies book as one of the Special Days. Cubbies may have further questions about the resurrection or the death of Christ, which is covered in the video lesson. I would encourage you to use these resources and the bible verse as a stepping stone for conversation with your child about why we celebrate Easter.

The coloring page that is included has lots of room for imagination - some Cubbies may want to draw or make thumbprint people for Jesus and/ or Mary Magdalene on the page next to the tomb. If you don't have a brad fastener to attach the "stone" to the tomb, a small piece of tape would also have a similar effect so they can 'open' the tomb. I will be praying for you all this week and wish you all a joyful Easter Sunday! He is Risen.

Sincerely -- Rebekah Wells, Cubbies Director

Welcome back to all our T&T clubbers and our surrogate leaders and listeners! Our lesson the week is titled "Discovery of Joy" found in your handbook as Section 4.2. "We discover joy when we trust God's plans, seek forgiveness, and obey His commands." This week's video was created by another one of our team leaders, "Mr. Terry" Waldorff. As was done last week, links to a copy of our weekly slide presentation (which includes all our Bible verses) has been provided. For our in-home leaders, you will find copy of Section 4.2 of the Small Group Guide which provides assistance as you help your clubber with their handbook.

The T&T handbook does not follow the calendar so we do not have a lesson focused on Easter week. Studying God's word in its entirety is always very important, so I do encourage you to complete Section 4.2. However, this week is the perfect time for all of us to spend time rereading the events that led up to Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection and what that really means to each one of us. Then let us celebrate that Christ has, indeed, risen from the dead and so shall we that put our faith and trust in Him. --Kendall Stoddart, T&T Director

April 1, 2020

With COVID-19 continuing to keep School and Church activities restricted to virtual environments, Awana at Faith is seeking to continue Awana virtual as well.  To do this we have instituted a few new allowances during this unusual time. While theme nights, club activities & group games are not occurring as they normally would, clubbers are encouraged to continue studying God's Word, memorizing the scriptures, and understanding how they can be "rightly dividing the word of truth." To this end, we are asking Awana families to take a few minutes Wednesday evening, use the following club-specific material and videos, and have clubbers complete sections within the home.

Parents, you are encouraged to make this time with your clubber(s) fun and exciting.  Play some fun quick games around the table, quiz your children, and be challenged by the study of scripture. Throughout it all, keep your eyes on Christ.

As your Awana commander, it is an honor and privilege to lead this club.  Clubbers, you have some amazing leaders who took many hours out of their days this past week to put these videos together.  When you see your leaders in the coming days/weeks, please be sure to thank them!  During this time, I want to make myself especially available to you, our Awana families.  If you have any questions or concerns, need additional information, or would like to discuss the coming weeks/months in Awana, please reach out to awana@faithpb.com or call the church office.  I will do my best to answer your questions and/or forward them on to your club's director.

Lastly, for our in-home leaders, we've shared a copy of Section 4.1 of the Small Group Guide which provides assistance as you help your clubber with their handbook. --Kendall Stoddart, T&T Director

We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; 1 Thessalonians 1:2

Trek & Journey

Trek & Journey clubbers are encouraged to continue to working in their handbooks with verse memorization, weekly activities and Bible readings.  In addition to working in handbooks, Trek & Journey clubbers are encouraged to follow along with the Wednesday night teen studies, being published to the FBC Youth Ministries Facebook page.

How to Listen to & Sign an Awana Section

First, know that every Awana section is a little different.  So pay attention to the material to ensure that sections have been read, questions answered and/or material work complete, and the memory verse(s) recited.  If you have questions on whether an answer or the material work is correct, or what must be done for a specific section, please email (awana@faithpb.com) or call (321-727-3593)

Verse Memorization recital:

  • Each clubber can only get 2 helps per section (not per verse).
  • A help consists of assisting or giving the child 1 or 2 consecutive words.
  • The clubber cannot be looking at the verse or aids during the recital.
  • Clubbers should try to recite all verses at once.

Signing off on a section:

  • Once all verses are recited, questions answered, and/or material worked, then the parent may sign off on the section as the leader and MUST date the signature.  We will need signatures and dates to provide credit for the section upon Awana's return
  • Limitations
    • Cubbies: 1 section per week (if your child is behind, we can work with you to help them get caught up)
    • Sparks: 2 sections per week
    • TNT: 2 sections per week (the current week and any single older missed section) + the silver & gold extra credit activities for these 2 sections.
    • Trek & Journey: 1 section per week
